The Speakers’ Challenge Ladder is a series of on-going weekly speaking contests.
The concept is similar to a squash ladder or the Indy car races.
There will be 8 (eight) speaking spots available every contest. 4 (four) speakers will be able to pre-register and 4 (four) speakers will be selected from the audience by random draw. You MUST inform the organizers when you arrive at the contest if you wish to be included in the random draw for one of the speaking spots. Come prepared to speak!
Points will be awarded for participation and points will be awarded for placing in the top 4 (four) in the contest. Points from all contests will be tallied and a running total will be kept.
All scores will be posted on the Speak Right, Speak Up! Inc. Webpage, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter pages.
All contests will be video taped. The winning presentations will be *uploaded to the Speak Right, Speak Up! Inc. YouTube channel and posted on the 'Contest Winners' page on the Speak Right, Speak Up! Inc. Webpage along with the latest contest scores and the total scores to-date.
To be eligible to compete in the contests you MUST be a member in good standing of the Speakers' Challenge Ladder Meetup Group.
Spectators and volunteers are always welcome to attend our 'Speakers' Challenge Ladder' meetings without having to join the Meetup Group.
THERE ARE NO FEES - NO MEMBERSHIP FEES - NO ENTRY FEES
‘Competitor B’ (as a general example) who speaks, receives a mark of 65 and places 4th would be awarded 3 points – 1 point for participation and 2 points for placing 4th.
These marks and points will be recorded on the Weekly Competition Board and the Master Leader Board.
The week 2 (two) participants will be awarded points in the same manner as week 1 (one) – 1 point for participation and the appropriate points for placing in the top 4 (four). These points and the marks they receive will be added to the running total.
If ‘Competitor E’ has participated in both contests, received a mark of 69, and placed 4th in week 2 (two) their new marks and points would be added to their existing marks and points – 1 point for participation and 2 (two) points for placing 4th and the mark of 69. The 3 (three) points would be added to the existing point total. The new point total would be 8 (eight) points accumulated, and the 69 marks would be added to the 78 marks from the previous week for a new total of 147 marks.
