ELIGIBILITY AND HOW TO ENTER

ELIGIBILITY APPLICATION FOR ENTRY REGISTRATION INFORMATION SELECTION PROCESS

ELIGIBILITY

  • Competitors must be 18 or older.
  • Competitors must be legal residents of Canada. Tournament is void where prohibited.
  • Competitors in the Speech Division must be aspiring speakers. Competitors may deliver presentations as part of their job or as a volunteer, however they do not receive payment specifically for speaking or presenting.
  • Competitors in the Coaching Division must be experienced speakers. They may or may not be professional speakers (individuals who get paid specifically for speaking) however, they must have both speaking and evaluation experience.
  • One entry per Competitor per tournament.
  • No purchase necessary.

APPLICATION FOR ENTRY

  • All applications must be submitted on-line using the official Speak Right, Speak Up! Inc.©™ entry form.
  • All applications must include a head and shoulder  photograph of the applicant.  Applicant must be alone in this photograph.
  • All applications must include a brief bio (maximum 30 words).
  • All applications must include a link to the one minute YouTube video presented by the applicant on a topic of their choice.
  • Videos longer than one minute and five seconds are automatically disqualified.
  • Videos and bios of qualified Competitors will be posted on the ‘Qualified Competitors’ pages on the Speak Right, Speak Up! Inc.©™ Webpage

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • Registration runs from 12:01 am (midnight) on the entry start date until 12:00 pm (noon) on the entry end date. Entry start and end dates for all tournaments are published on the Tournament --> Schedule page.
  • 32 qualified speakers and 32 qualified coaches will be invited to participate in the tournament. (See selection process)
  • Competitors must register as either a speaker or a coach
  • Competitors will not be allowed to register as both a speaker and a coach
  • Competitors will not be allowed to switch between speaker and coach.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Registration runs from 12:01 am (midnight) on the entry start date until 12:00 pm (noon) on the entry end date.  Entry start and end dates for all Tournaments are published on the Tournament --> Schedule page.

  • Competitors are selected by random draws starting at 5:00 pm on the scheduled draw date and continues until 12:00 pm (noon) on the entry end date. Scheduled draw and ending dates for all Tournaments are published on the Tournament --> Schedule page.

  • Properly submitted entries will be accepted until the final draw time of 12:00 pm (noon) on the entry end date.

  • Selection process is based on all properly submitted entries. All properly submitted entries are eligible for all random draws for this tournament.

  • Starting at 5:00 pm on the scheduled draw date a random draw will be conducted until the first qualified entries in each division (speaker and coach) are selected.  This process will be repeated each day from all properly submitted entries for each division (speaker and coach) until the entry end date.

  • Check the Tournament --> Schedule page for a breakdown of the number of entries that will be selected by random draw each day.

  • The total number of competitors for each division is:
    ~~ 32 speakers.
    ~~ 32 coaches.

All selections will be posted on the Tournament --> Qualified Speakers and Tournament --> Qualified Coaches pages.

Note: Only one entry per person is required to be eligible for all random draws.
